Y-SMART Description

YoGoKo communication solutions for connected & cooperative mobility are designed around a unified communication and data management software platform (Y-SMART).
Y-SMART combines hybrid communication technologies based on the most recent Cooperative ITS, Internet and IoT standards (ISO, CEN, ETSI, IEEE, SAE, IETF).

Y-SMART technology is at the core of the communication & data management platform for applications and services. Y-SMART technology manages data acquisition and transmission for large variety of needs, from road safety to traffic efficiency through data fusion for new services such as : cooperative ADAS, eCall, telematic services, High Definition map update, remote monitoring and control, EV charging management, fleet management, autonomous driving, Over The Air software update and other extended vehicle applications.

  • Y-SMART includes the latest V2X communication standards to exchange data directly between vehicles and their surrounding environment. V2X solutions deployed in Europe, Australia and Israël are complying with Cooperative ITS standards developed by ISO/CEN and ETSI (ITS station communication architecture, ITS-G5, GeoNetworking, CAM, DENM, SPaT, MAP, SAM, generic messaging facilities, multi-source positioning, …) while solutions deployed in North America are complying with IEEE standards (WAVE communication architecture, DSRC, …).

Communications, data & service management

  • Y-SMART is based on a middleware factory, providing mutualized and cooperative services to applications. Y-SMART integrates the latest generic messaging and facilities services which ease the development of new, innovative and future-proof services (standardized or proprietary, public or private) compliant with the latest Cooperative ITS standards (ISO/CEN). An embedded database (LDM) centralizes data and offers applications a collaborative vision of the environment. The advanced communication and data management features offered by Y-SMART can be accessed by applications either locally or remotely through a standard, simple and unified API. The API eases the execution of embedded applications.

Extended cloud connectivity

  • Y-SMART combines hybrid communication technologies as needed to provide IP-based connectivity to the cloud. Multiple and heterogeneous access technologies (vehicular WiFi, urban WiFi, cellular 3/4/5G, 6LoWPAN, LoRa, …) are used simultaneously to offer extended connectivity beyond the reach of a single access technology. Y-SMART manages all incoming and outgoing data communication flows. It is able to select the most appropriate communication profile for each flow and to transfer a given flow from one access technology to another one. This seamless handover is performed whenever necessary and transparently to the applications, without breaking ongoing sessions. The best available communication resources are granted for safety-critical applications through flow and application prioritization.

Cybersecurity by design

  • Y-SMART is designed with security in mind at all stages of the development, ensuring protection of communications, data, and applications making use of them. Y-SMART isolates communications between the internal vehicle network and the cloud platform, thus acting as a firewall. It implements state of the art security standards in order to protect data and services. Network communications encryption prevents attacks or interception over access networks. Authentication of applications and services provides a high level of control over access to vehicle data.

Precise positioning

  • Strategic partnerships enable YoGoKo to deliver precise positioning solutions. Up-to-date precise digital map (static or updated map) and the opportunity and feasibility of mapped and / or connected fixed points on the road, like landmarks, combined with V2X technology is key for safety oriented use cases for example.

Systems integration

  • Y-SMART can be integrated into a diversity of hardware and software platforms designed by third parties. Y-SMART is tuned to fit to the appropriate deployment environments (hardware, regional regulations, usages, …). Y-SMART comprises a rich programming environment to implement a wide range of applications in the same communication system directly over the unified communication platform. It also includes autonomous vehicle development software (RTMaps, ROS).
